Sagem was the first to develop gyroscopic solutions in France through its involvement in marine gyrocompasses from before WWII.
In sixty years, Sagem has become a worldwide specialist in this field covering the largest variety of technologies, ranging from the small vibrating gyroscope for light vehicles and weapons to the "star in a bottle" quality gyroscope enabling precision navigation for nuclear submarines.
This solid technological background has enabled Sagem to cover a very wide range of applications for all types of vehicles (land, navy, aircraft, helicopters, drones, missiles and guided weapons) and to progress from equipment to system supplier, taking the entire on-board avionics system into account, particularly with modernization.
This system expertise extends to information and communication systems such as those enabling mission planning for fighter aircraft (e.g. Rafale fighters), on-board information systems for civil aircraft (e.g. the A 380) and airbase management-planning systems.
